Source sees Tottenham edging race for Kroupi as £100m target

A source says Tottenham are poised to win the race for Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi in the January transfer window, after the 20‑year‑old netted 13 Premier League goals last season. The French teenager impressed with his scoring record despite his age, and clubs such as Arsenal are also linked to the deal.
Bournemouth’s profit‑driven sales model
Bournemouth have a history of selling their star names for substantial profit. They have previously transferred Antoine Semenyo, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez for sizable fees, making it logical that Kroupi could be the next lucrative departure.
Arsenal also in the frame
The Evening Standard Arsenal are circling Kroupi, suggesting a bid in the region of £100m would test Bournemouth’s resolve. This adds another heavyweight contender to the competition for the young forward.
The source, identified as Eli Junior Kroupi of Bournemouth John Wenham, told Tottenham News: “The issue that has to be resolved in January is the striker situation. We were heavily linked with Kroupi in the summer, and reports said we were willing to pay £80m‑100m on top of the other spending we did. I really hope that in the background, we are still progressing that deal, so on the 1st January, we can announce him as a Tottenham player.”
While the comments sound optimistic, the article cautions that the information remains speculative and lacks concrete confirmation. It notes that the statements may be more conjecture than firm evidence at this stage.
Should the move materialise, Tottenham could offer the 20‑year‑old a substantial wage package and guarantee regular playing time, something that might be less certain at Arsenal or other clubs nearer the top of the table. The north London side’s recent struggles could be offset by the promise of a starring role for Kroupi.
Could Kroupi finally choose Tottenham as his next step? The source remains hopeful that the French forward is keen to join the club in January, viewing it as a good step up despite the team’s recent form.
