Sky and Lazio resume talks with Icardi, free at 33
At the age of 33, Argentine striker Mauro Icardi is still without a club and now at the centre of new negotiations with Lazio, according to Sky Sport Italy, which reports the resumption of market contacts in these hours.
Return of negotiations
Sky Sport Italy has confirmed that Lazio has restarted talks with the former Inter and Galatasaray striker, Mauro Icardi, currently free of any contractual commitment. The white‑blue club is looking for an experienced striker to strengthen the attacking department.
Sky has also resumed contact with the striker's agent, according to Sky Sport. The interest has been confirmed by Icardi’s representative, who stated the player’s willingness to consider a move to Lazio.
Icardi in Istanbul
On 21 April, during the Turkish Super League match between Galatasaray and Pendikspor, Icardi celebrated his club’s first goal at the Rams Park in Istanbul, Turkey. The event took place in ISTANBUL, Turkey, and was observed by Como, who had already linked the player to a possible transfer. Sky highlighted Icardi’s openness to a return to Serie A with Lazio.
Inter count on Calha's return as Serie A restarts on Saturday
Icardi’s representative confirmed that talks with the Biancocelesti resumed at the end of August and, according to the latest updates from Sky, the negotiations have been reactivated in recent hours. The discussions also include the direct involvement of coach Gennaro Gattuso.
Despite the closure of the summer transfer window for Serie A clubs, Icardi could still join Lazio, as he is free of any contractual obligation after Galatasaray decided not to renew his contract beyond June 2026. The transfer would therefore be on a free basis, with the possibility to negotiate individual terms.
Icardi’s profile in Serie A
Icardi, 33, has already played in Serie A with Sampdoria and Inter, tallying 121 goals in 219 appearances. During his time at Inter, he displayed his finishing abilities, contributing significantly to the attacking department.
In 2020 he left Inter for Paris Saint‑Germain, then joined Galatasaray two years later, where he scored 77 goals in 134 matches. The Turkish club decided not to extend Icardi’s contract beyond June 2026, leaving him free on the market.
