Sheringham urges Man United to call Brighton for £100m striker
Teddy Sheringham, former Manchester United striker, has publicly urged the club to contact Brighton and Hove Albion and sign 19‑year‑old Greek forward Charalampos Kostoulas, whom he describes as a potential £100 million plus player, after the youngster’s brace in Brighton’s 3‑0 win over Arsenal early in the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.
Why Kostoulas attracts attention
Kostoulas has emerged as one of the Premier League’s breakout stars this season, scoring two goals and providing an assist in the 3‑0 victory against Arsenal and impressing for Greece at international level.
Sheringham praised him, saying: “Wow. What a player, and the goals he’s scoring too! I look at Charalampos Kostoulas and I see a striker who is a proper leader of the line. He will be the next £100 million plus player at Brighton who moves on somewhere else.”
The former Red Devil added that United must “get on the phone” with Brighton before any other club does, insisting the Greek striker “takes the game to the opposition, controls the ball, leads the line, scores goals, wins headers and brings players into play.”
United’s striker dilemma
Manchester United have collected just five points from five Premier League games so far this season, leaving them desperate for a proven centre‑forward.

Benjamin Sesko is currently the only senior natural number nine in the squad, but he is dealing with shin‑injury problems; Matheus Cunha and Joshua Zirkzee can play up front but are not at their best in that role, while Marcus Rashford, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona, is better suited to the left wing.
Sheringham also urged United’s co‑owners, INEOS, to keep faith in manager Michael Carrick, calling the idea of sacking him “absolute madness” and warning that the pressure on the hierarchy could become “too much”.
He dismissed the prospect of hiring high‑profile managers such as Diego Simeone or Antonio Conte, noting that past attempts by José Mourinho had “not worked” and that such options would be “too pragmatic”.

Signing Kostoulas would give the Red Devils a true leader up front and potentially secure a £100 million asset, while Brighton would lose a key player who has already proven his quality against top opposition. READ the full comments for further insight.
