Shelbourne gamble on Killie Eddie Beach to fuel European push

Shelbourne have completed the signing of 22‑year‑old goalkeeper Eddie Beach from Killie (Kilmarnock) for an undisclosed fee, adding a former Chelsea youth as they gear up for European competition. Beach, who made five appearances for the Scottish side and previously featured on loan at Derry City, arrives ahead of the new season.

Beach, 22, left Chelsea after his contract expired and signed with Kilmarnock last summer. He featured in five matches for the Scottish club before deciding to look for regular first‑team football.

During the first half of the year he spent a loan spell at Derry City, gaining valuable experience in the League of Ireland. The stint gave him his initial exposure to Irish football.

"I'm delighted to be joining Shelbourne," Beach said. He added that the club's massive history, the manager's vision and the ambition he sensed in the dressing room convinced him it was the right move, and he welcomed the chance to play in the upcoming European campaign.

The acquisition provides Shelbourne with a young goalkeeper who has trained at Chelsea and played in the Scottish Premiership, bolstering their options between the posts as they aim for a solid defensive foundation ahead of the new season.

For Kilmarnock, Beach's departure frees a squad place and concludes his brief five‑appearance spell. The signing underlines Shelbourne's proactive recruitment as they prepare for European competition.
