Serious fall of Steeve Kango at Hoffenheim, evacuated to hospital

On Thursday evening, on the grass of the Herbststadion in Hoffenheim, Olympique Lyonnais right‑back Steeve Kango, then nineteen years old, fell heavily during an aerial duel with Tim Lamperle, before being evacuated on a stretcher and taken to the hospital for examinations.

As the starting right‑back, Steeve Kango was in the lineup from the kickoff. After six appearances with Olympique Lyonnais last season, the young full‑back played only twenty‑five minutes before leaving the pitch.

Injury timeline

Around the thirtieth minute, an aerial duel with German defender Tim Lamperle went wrong. Kango landed on his back, remaining on the ground for several minutes under the medical staff's supervision.

The medical team quickly placed him on a stretcher and evacuated him from the field. On the bench, Nohamm Kamara took over the right‑back position for the remainder of the match.

According to Canal+, the Lyon player was taken to the hospital to undergo examinations aimed at assessing the extent of his injuries.

The collision occurred during the third matchday of the Europa League, pitting Hoffenheim against Olympique Lyonnais. The game was played on Hoffenheim's pitch, in front of an attentive crowd.

Not yet twenty, Kango will turn twenty on December 9. This difficult evening highlights the fragility of young talents exposed to the demands of European football.
