Serie A kickoff: Inter defend title, Juventus chase redemption

Serie A returns this weekend in Italy, with the defending champions Inter Milan—holders of 21 Scudetto titles—looking to retain the crown as the league’s opening fixtures promise an early clash for the coveted Scudetto. Fans can already sense the intensity as rivals line up to challenge the Milanese giants.

Title contenders

Inter Milan enter as strong contenders to win back‑to‑back titles after securing 21 league crowns in their history. Juventus remain the most successful club with 36 titles, while AC Milan, boasting 19 championships, also head into the season among the favourites.

Napoli, the 2025/26 runners‑up, have collected four Scudetti, two of which arrived in the last decade (2022/23 and 2024/25), signalling great form that cannot be ignored.

Roma have won three Scudetti and typically compete near the top of the table, adding another heavyweight to the early title race.

Both Juventus and Milan start the 2026/27 campaign under pressure after missing the Champions League last season; Milan finished fifth and Juventus sixth, while modest Como 1906 outperformed both to secure a place in this season’s UCL.

Fixtures and broadcast

Serie A features twelve Brazilian players. Juventus terminated Arthur Melo’s contract this Friday (21). The Brazilian contingent includes Éderson (Atalanta), Junior Messias (Genoa), Bremer and Douglas Luiz (Juventus), David Neres, Giovane and Alisson Santos (Napoli), Carlos Augusto and Luis Henrique (Inter), Dodô and Viery (Fiorentina), and Wesley (Roma). Check the list for full details.
