Serie A Fiorentina eyes Real Madrid’s €63.2m Argentine wonderkid

Real Madrid’s €63.2 million investment in 18‑year‑old Argentine winger Franco Mastantuono has become a benchmark as Serie A side Fiorentina open talks for a loan deal ahead of the 2026‑27 season. The Italian club hope to add the versatile attacker to strengthen their squad for the upcoming campaign.

According to CalcioMercato (h/t AS), Fiorentina have made initial enquiries with Real Madrid for a temporary deal, hoping to add a winger or attacking midfielder to their squad for the new campaign. The club view Mastantuono’s €63.2 million price tag as a benchmark for a high‑impact loan. Securing the Argentine talent would address their need for creativity on the right flank.

Fiorentina are among a host of clubs across Europe that are vying to secure Mastantuono on loan during the ongoing summer transfer window. The interest reflects the player’s reputation as a wonderkid with untapped potential. European suitors see the loan as a low‑risk way to benefit from his abilities.

Premier League side Fulham are also monitoring the 18‑year‑old, with new manager Alvaro Arbeloa reportedly interested in a one‑season loan that includes a buy‑option. Italian side Como 1907 and Mastantuono’s former club River Plate are likewise keeping an eye on the situation. Their attention adds further pressure on Fiorentina’s negotiations.

More than five clubs in La Liga have shown interest in the Argentine teenager, adding further competition for his services. The Spanish clubs view the loan as an opportunity to bolster their attacking options without a permanent transfer. This broad interest underscores Mastantuono’s rising profile across the continent.

Mastantuono remains part of Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid squad and continues to train with the first team in pre‑season. Fierce competition on the right side of the attack fuels speculation that a loan could be best for his development. Maintaining his presence at the Bernabeu allows the Spanish giants to monitor his progress closely.

Real Madrid cite the successful loan of Endrick to Olympique Lyon as a model, noting that the youngster thrived on loan before returning to the Bernabeu. The club believes a similar pathway could unlock Mastantuono’s enormous untapped potential. They have made clear they will only consider a temporary move, retaining full control over his future.

The Spanish giants are scheduled to face Fiorentina in a pre‑season friendly on 1 August, offering the Italian side a chance to assess Mastantuono up close. While the match provides a direct evaluation, Real Madrid have reiterated that any deal must be a loan, preserving their €63.2 million investment. The outcome of the talks will shape the player’s next season and could influence future loan strategies for both clubs.
