Serie A clubs must clear squads to land Arsenal’s Martinelli and Jesus
Inter and Napoli are forced to create room in their squads before they can sign Arsenal’s outcast forwards Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, as both Serie A sides must off‑load players to accommodate the Gunners’ attackers. Neither striker has been named in Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Coventry City this evening, underscoring their peripheral status.
Squad clearance needed
Inter’s interest in Martinelli hinges on freeing budget. According to Tuttosport, Roc Nation – which also represents Inter midfielder Luis Henrique – has offered Martinelli to the club. Inter would need to sell Luis Henrique and possibly Ange‑Yoan Bonny, valued at €40 million, to fund the purchase and satisfy La Viola’s financial plan.
Napoli’s pursuit of Jesus faces a similar hurdle. Corriere dello Sport reports the Partenopei must off‑load either Noa Lang or Lorenzo Lucca before signing the striker. Lucca has attracted interest from Trabzonspor, yet Napoli are still awaiting an official bid.
Both Serie A clubs have also been linked with Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee, a player currently on Juventus’ agenda, indicating broader recruitment plans beyond the Arsenal targets.
Arsenal have not named either forward for their Premier League opener against Coventry City this evening, confirming their outcast status. Until Inter sell Henrique and Bonny, and Napoli resolve the Lang or Lucca decision, any transfer for Martinelli or Jesus remains conditional, leaving both clubs with a clear obstacle to complete the signings.
