Sarri reminds Chelsea and warns Atalanta before the return to Turin

Maurizio Sarri has reassured Atalanta, stating that the only positive start of his career was at Chelsea, but he admitted that he does not have good memories of his period at Juventus. The next match will take place at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin on Sunday at 17:00 UK time (18:00 CEST).

The rendez‑vous will therefore be at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin, where fans will be able to see the former Juventus manager return to the city. The match is scheduled for Sunday at 17:00 British time, corresponding to 18:00 CEST.

Memories of Juventus

“It was a strange season, with the stadiums practically empty from March due to the pandemic, and perhaps that’s why I don’t have good memories of that experience,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italy, adding “in any case I have no regrets.”

Although he won the Serie A title with Juventus in the 2019/20 season, the stint lasted only one year and was not remembered fondly by either him or the club.

New Adventure with Atalanta

Sarri emphasized that Atalanta need not worry: they are beginning a new era, trying to impose a style of play different from the traditional three‑defender system. So far the team has recorded three wins, one draw and two defeats across Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Conference League.

In the context of the UEFA Conference League, Atalanta faced Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Play‑Off Round First Leg, a match played at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy, on 20 August 2026.

“It’s a building year, the sporting director and the club have not set short‑term objectives, they speak of building for the long term,” Coach Sarri explained.

During the summer, Atalanta completed the transfer window with the arrival of Jonathan Rowe from Bologna. “I have not yet encountered a single manager fully satisfied with the club’s transfer work at 100%,” Sarri commented, adding that it is essential to assess the entire squad, not only the new arrivals, because some are ready, others need development, but the overall quality is what matters.
