São Paulo land Pedro Lima on loan with Wolverhampton paying most wages
São Paulo have officially secured the loan of 20‑year‑old right‑back Pedro Lima from Wolverhampton until 30 June 2027, with the English club covering 60 percent of his wages and no release fee required, the club announced on 12 September 2026 06:28.
Loan terms and financial split
The agreement was finalised without any release costs for the Brazilian side, and Wolverhampton will continue to pay the majority of the player's salary. The deal also contains performance‑related clauses that could extend the loan to May of the following year.
Lima's playing time in England dwindled after veteran Kieran Trippier joined Wolverhampton, prompting the 20‑year‑old to seek opportunities elsewhere. The right‑back had previously been on the fringes of the first‑team squad.
He views regular minutes in Brazil as essential to revive his prospects with the Brazilian national team. The move follows a recent, albeit blocked, call‑up to the South American U‑20 Championship, which Wolverhampton vetoed.
At São Paulo, Lima will compete for the starting right‑back role under coach Dorival Júnior. The position is currently occupied by Lucas Ramon and Aurélio Buta, both signed in 2026 but yet to cement a place, alongside young academy graduate Igor Felisberto.
