Sancho courted by at least two Premier League clubs as free agent

Jadon Sancho, the 26‑year‑old former Manchester United winger, is already in talks with at least two Premier League clubs, just days after United’s attempted return option fell through, leaving the ex‑£73 million signing without a contract. He remains a free agent and his future has become a hot topic across England and Europe.

Free‑agent status after United exit

Comments Sport Bruna Reis, Senior Sports Journalist, noted at 15:15 on 07 Sep 2026 that the 26‑year‑old left Manchester United in the summer when his contract expired, becoming a free agent. During his five‑year spell at Old Trafford, Sancho struggled to impress, prompting loan spells at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Chelsea, who had an obligation to buy the winger at the time, even paid a £5 million penalty to send him back to United. After a season at Villa Park, Sancho returned to Manchester but the club chose not to offer him a contract extension.

Premier League interest and Dortmund link

Speculation has intensified, with Sancho linked to several clubs, though no move has yet materialised. A return to Dortmund has not been ruled out, which added that the Bundesliga side recently lost Giannis Konstantelias to a cruciate ligament injury and are seeking a replacement.

claims Sancho would be willing to forgo a signing bonus and accept a heavily performance‑based contract. As a free agent, Dortmund would not need to pay a transfer fee, and Sancho made 158 appearances for the German club over two spells.

Two unnamed English clubs are thought to have made fresh approaches in recent days, clubs in Turkey, the Saudi Pro League and the UAE are also exploring a deal for the winger.

Sancho has also been offered the chance to join Arabian Falcons, the Dubai‑based side managed by former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who is enjoying a winning start to the new campaign.

United signed Sancho for £73 million in 2021 after he had established himself as one of Europe’s most sought‑after young players. In five years he scored just 12 goals and registered six assists in 83 appearances, a return that fell short of expectations.
