Salah's hat‑trick fuels Trabzonspor's crushing blow to Galatasaray

Former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the fourth minute, racing clear before slotting past Ugurcan Cakir, and went on to complete a hat‑trick that powered Trabzonspor to a 4‑0 victory over champions Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig, also providing the assist for Noah Saviolo’s goal.

Early strike opens the floodgates

The opening goal arrived in the fourth minute, with Salah exploiting the space left by a Galatasaray defence missing talisman Victor Osimhen through injury. The Turkish side’s back line, featuring Rafael Leao, Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan, struggled to contain the Egyptian all‑time great, allowing him a clear run at goal.

Salah doubled the lead before half‑time after Davinson Sanchez was dispossessed, threading a pass that set up Noah Saviolo. Saviolo curled a delightful finish beyond the Turkish keeper, restoring Trabzonspor’s dominance and extending the advantage to two goals.

The 34‑year‑old completed his hat‑trick in the 80th minute, striking again to make it 3‑0. He celebrated by wheeling away and removing his shirt, a flamboyant display that underscored his decisive influence on the match.

League implications and personal milestones

Salah has now recorded seven goals and two assists in six Turkish Super Lig matches, propelling Trabzonspor to fifth place and within three points of Galatasaray. His tally also places him atop the league’s scoring chart, and he became the first player in over ten seasons to be involved in four goals against Galatasaray in a single Super Lig encounter.

Even at his age, Salah’s performance reminds Liverpool of the void left by his departure this summer. The Reds have signed Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz, both left‑footed, alongside Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha, yet they still lack a natural, lethal forward to patrol the right wing as Salah once did.
