Ryan McAidoo's late strike caps Manchester City's ELF Cup thrashing

England‑born winger Ryan McAidoo, the Ghanaian‑eligible teenager, came off the bench to fire Manchester City's fifth goal as they demolished Norwich City 5‑0 in the ELF Cup on Thursday. The win secured progression to the next round of the competition.

McAidoo had missed out on a starting role in the Third Round tie but was introduced at halftime to replace Ryan Cherki.

Manchester City took the lead in the 29th minute when Floyd Samba rose to meet a cross inside the penalty area and headed the ball powerfully into the bottom corner.

Rayan Cherki doubled the advantage three minutes later, completing an impressive individual move before slotting a low strike from inside the box past Norwich goalkeeper Daniel Grimshaw.

Second‑half dominance

City continued to dominate after the interval, with Allan Elias extending the lead in the 48th minute after a fine individual effort placed his shot into the bottom right corner.

Samba added his second of the night in the 54th minute, firing from the edge of the area into the bottom right corner. Norwich thought they had reduced the deficit in the 74th minute when Mohamed Toure scored, but the goal was ruled out for off‑side. McAidoo completed the scoring in the 90th minute, receiving a pass inside the box and finishing precisely into the left side of the net.

The comprehensive victory propels Manchester City into the next round of the EFL Cup, keeping their hopes of lifting the trophy alive.
