Rui Pinto’s whistleblowing pits him against Manchester City and FIFA
In a dimly lit flat, former history student Rui Pinto, his trademark spiky hair in view, types furiously while admitting he fears for his safety after his leaks forced an investigation into Manchester City the Premier League's independent commission later found the club guilty.
More than a decade after he launched the Football Leaks website in response to the 2015 FIFA scandal, Pinto finds himself in a growing storm, openly posting statements on social media following the verdict.
His initial targets were the club’s executives, whom he accused of cheating and showing a complete lack of respect for the rules; on Wednesday he turned his focus to FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
