Rückkehr to Italien looms for Theate as loan deal unfolds

In the training ground of Eintracht Frankfurt, 26‑year‑old Belgian centre‑back Arthur Theate prepares for a provisional Abschied, as the Innenverteidiger is set to return to Italy on a Leihbasis with FC Bologna, pending a €15 million Kaufoption, next week after the club's recent 11‑0 cup defeat.

Loan move includes €15 million option

The deal will see Theate join Bologna on a season‑long Leihe, with the Italian side securing a Kaufoption worth 15 Millionen Euro. Frankfurt originally signed the defender for 13 Millionen Euro, meaning a potential profit if the option is exercised.

Wie Gianluca Di Marzio berichtet, the 26‑year‑old Belgian is poised for a Rückkehr to his former Station. The report highlights that the move is structured as a Leihbasis arrangement, giving Bologna time to assess the player before committing.

Der Innenverteidiger did not feature in Eintracht’s 11‑0 DFB‑Pokal triumph over SC St‑Tönis, underscoring his diminished role at the German club. His absence from the Aufgebot signalled the impending Abschied.

Medical check finalises transfer

Nach Angaben von Di Marzio, Theate should arrive either on Friday or on Saturday in Bologna, where a medical examination will follow before the Wechsel is completed. The club plans to finalise the loan and option paperwork immediately after the check.

Should Bologna later activate the Option, Eintracht Frankfurt could record a small transferplus in Millionen Euro, offsetting the original outlay. The move therefore separates the paths of the defender and the Hessen side, at least for the foreseeable future.
