Rúben Amorim criticises AC Milan's draw and backs a back four
At the Sassuolo stadium, this Sunday, AC Milan left with only a 1‑0 draw against the visitors, in a sixth‑round match of the Primeira Liga, and coach Rúben Amorim showed frustration when analysing the result.
Reaction to the draw and defensive adjustments
In statements to the media, Ruben Amorim began by reacting to the result: «When we don’t win, we can’t be satisfied. We can’t lose points like this». The coach emphasized that the team must continue to do what it did until it scores the winning goal.
Amorim added that, after conceding the goal, the team should have controlled the game better and avoided goals from set‑pieces. «We reacted well, we deserved to be in the lead», he said.
Regarding Matteo Gabbia’s injury, Amorim said: «I still don’t know the nature of the injury and it’s unclear how long the recovery will take. Matteo is a key player for this group, I personally feel his pain».
The coach also explained the switch to a four‑man defensive line: «We are working on building the game, we need to improve in the final third of the pitch. They managed to close well on our left flank».
«Defense with three or four? The players are the same, you can play in various ways. With four we are more open and the midfielders can push forward more, so we tried a new solution», Amorim concluded.
