Roy Keane accuses Manchester United of claiming City cheated

Roy Keane, Manchester United legend, responded sharply to the statements of Spanish international Rodri about the City case, asserting that “it was the club that chose to cheat.” The former footballer criticised the confidence Rodri had expressed in the “impunity” of the “citizen” side.

Keane said: “It’s about time. This has been going on for a long time. Of course, I do not agree with Rodri’s message.” He added that the club had been found guilty and now must face the consequences, describing the verdict as “a shock to be found guilty of 114 charges.”

Rodri, now a midfielder for FC Barcelona, recalled that in 2020 they went through an identical legal process and that the club had conveyed to them the reassurance that they would be immune. He stated that he trusts the “impunity of the club” and that he hopes justice will be served, whatever the outcome.

According to British media, City is guilty of 114 of the 115 financial violations that the Premier League accuses it of. The sanction, which will be announced in the coming days or weeks, could include a fine, points deduction, relegation or title stripping.
