Rots dismisses Ajax link, confirms Bart van Rooij stays
At a press conference in Enschede at 17:39, FC Twente right‑back Daan Rots dismissed the speculation that Bart van Rooij had spoken with Ajax, while trainer John van den Brom also rejected the rumor, confirming the defender remains with the club.
Both Rots and Brom appeared on the platform beside the field to clarify the situation for the media. The club used the opportunity to address the circulating story directly. The Twente‑rechtsback emphasized that the reports were unfounded. The Twente‑trainer John van den Brom spoke alongside his player.
The rumor claimed that the Tukkers’ right‑back had been in talks with the Dutch giants about a possible move. No official contact between the player and Ajax was confirmed.

There is a theoretical possibility that Van Rooij could leave after the transfer window, but he is currently registered in Enschede and the club has announced no departure. FC Twente has not issued any statement indicating an exit.
“I asked Bart again today and nothing happens,” said the coach during the press conference, adding that such reports are always irritating for a match. He emphasized that the focus remains on the upcoming fixture.
“It’s simply not true. I read that he had spoken with Ajax, but he did not. He is my partner on the right side, so I have to be aware of these things. He told me it was false, and as far as I know his agent has not spoken with Ajax either,” Rots stated. His comment was intended to put the speculation to rest.
Van den Brom received support from Rots, who laughed when the topic was raised, underscoring the club’s confidence in the defender’s status. The joint statement aimed to put an end to the speculation ahead of the next fixture.
