Ronaldo admits he considered quitting and vows to stay for the Nations League

In a press conference before the match between Portugal and Wales, part of the first matchday of the Nations League group stage, Cristiano Ronaldo discussed the future of his career, admitting that he had considered retiring in the summer, but has not decided yet.

The striker answered questions about the end of his career. “End of career? I don’t know. I’d like to answer, but I don’t know. From 30 onwards and many, I’ve learned to live in the moment. It’s possible, quite likely, but I don’t know if it will happen,” Ronaldo said.

He confirmed having considered retirement: “Thought about retiring? I considered it. Of course.” Ronaldo said he thinks about all decisions and, after talking with the coach and the president, decided to stay.

The player stated that he can help the national team not only by scoring goals, but also off the pitch. “I can give the team my support, not only with goals, but off the field. It’s a new generation, but the most important thing is to help,” he said.

The encounter against Wales will be the first fixture of the Nations League group stage, where Portugal aims to start the campaign with a win.

Ronaldo also issued a warning to the world: “I warn the world, I’m worldwide. I warn, yes,” reinforcing his global presence in football.
