Romano says Madrid-Yan Diomande deal nears closure for Los Blancos

Fabrizio Romano says the transfer of 19‑year‑old winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig to Real Madrid is expected to be finalised within hours or days, with the fee reported to be close to €130 million after a day of conflicting reports about whether the clubs had reached a complete agreement.

Initial reports suggested that Los Blancos and RB Leipzig had reached a complete agreement and that an official announcement was imminent, but subsequent updates indicated no face‑to‑face talks had taken place in recent hours.

Romano emphasised that the saga will be resolved once Diomande returns to training in a few days, meaning the finalisation hinges on his availability. He added that the deal will not be delayed into August.

Real Madrid are the frontrunners, pushing hard to close the deal, while Paris Saint‑Germain have re‑entered the race, attempting to alter the situation.

The club sees Diomande as the perfect right‑flank signing after his impressive performances at the FIFA World Cup, expecting him to join Kylian Mbappé and Viníus Jr. in a potent attacking trio.

A long‑term contract until 2031 has been prepared, ensuring Diomande becomes a pillar of the Spanish side’s future project. The agreement would lock him in for over a decade, aligning with the club’s long‑term planning.

If the transfer materialises, Real Madrid will secure a young talent for a fee exceeding €100 million, while RB Leipzig will receive a substantial sum; PSG’s interest will wane if the Spanish side finalises the deal.
