Romano says January loan could see Endrick join Liverpool

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola could finally add the Brazilian striker Endrick to his squad in the January window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Romano says Real Madrid may be prepared to loan the 20‑year‑old, who cost the Spanish club €70 million when he arrived from Palmeiras in December 2022. The move would give the Reds a high‑profile option if the player’s minutes at the Bernabéu remain scarce.

Romano reported that Real Madrid are considering sending Endrick out on loan midway through the season. He added that the decision hinges on the youngster’s playing time in the coming weeks, with the January market offering a realistic exit route if opportunities do not improve.

Earlier interest from Liverpool

Earlier this month the Italian journalist revealed on his YouTube channel that Liverpool had examined a permanent deal for Endrick during the summer of 2026. Although no formal proposal was ever submitted, the club’s scouting department kept the Brazilian forward on their radar, impressed by his potential despite his limited exposure at Real.

Why Endrick is surplus at Real Madrid

Romano quoted himself saying: “It’s true that Endrick didn’t find space at the beginning of the season at Real Madrid. That’s the reality. The numbers say that.” He explained that an injury in August delayed the player’s recovery, meaning he was not in optimal condition to compete under José Mourinho. Consequently, Endrick has logged only four minutes in La Liga this season.

During the summer, Endrick entertained three main possibilities: a loan to Aston Villa, a loan to Roma and a loan to Milan. Liverpool also expressed interest, but the club never presented a concrete offer. Real Madrid, represented by Florentino Pérez and the coaching staff, closed the doors to both loan and permanent approaches, leaving the player’s future in limbo.

Implications for both clubs

With Real Madrid refusing further negotiations, the focus now shifts to Endrick’s playing time over October, November and December. Romano warned that the amount of minutes he receives will dictate whether he stays at the Bernabéu or seeks a move in January. Should the striker remain on the fringes, Liverpool stand ready to act, potentially securing a loan that could become permanent.

The €70 million price tag, paid when Endrick joined from Palmeiras, underscores the financial stakes for Madrid. For Liverpool, acquiring a player of his calibre without a transfer fee would be a significant coup, especially given the striker’s age and pedigree.

Romano’s update also mentioned that Manchester City’s transfer decision was being finalised, highlighting the broader market activity surrounding young talent. Endrick’s situation will remain under close scrutiny as the January window approaches, with both clubs weighing the benefits of a loan versus retaining the player for the remainder of the season.
