Romano says €30 million Roma‑Bologna deal for Castro nears completion
Roma are on the brink of signing Bologna striker Santiago Castro for a €30 million fee, plus €5 million in bonuses, with a contract worth around €2 million per season, Roma‑Bologna negotiations reach their final stage.
The basic agreement is set at €30 million with an additional €5 million in performance bonuses, while the exact contractual details are still being finalised. Roma are working to iron out the remaining clauses ahead of the expected completion within hours.
The Argentine forward, Santiago Castro, has already given his consent to join the Giallorossi, who have proposed a salary package of roughly €2 million per season. His willingness was confirmed in Romano’s latest video update.
Roma’s urgency stems from the stalled pursuit of Nicolò Tresoldi, for whom Club Brugge is demanding a very high fee, making the striker’s acquisition unlikely. With Tresoldi off the table, the capital‑city club turned its focus to securing Castro.
Roma hope to finalise the transfer quickly so Castro can be registered before the squad departs for Wales. The deal may also involve the addition of Dovbyk, whose situation appears separate, or a loan move for Robinio Vaz.
