Romano confirms Man City swoop for Arsenal target Iliman Ndiaye

Manchester City have secured a £60 million fixed‑fee plus £5 million in add‑ons deal for Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, with personal terms agreed and a medical authorised, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed on X. The agreement follows a club‑to‑club pact and completes a £65 million package before the summer window closes.

Arsenal's hunt for a winger

With Brazil international Gabriel Martinelli set to join Al‑Hilal, Arsenal have been making late checks on Ndiaye, hoping to bring him to the Emirates Stadium as a replacement. The Gunners’ urgency grew as the transfer window entered its final hours.

Senegalese outlet Taggat wrote on X that Arsenal inquired about Ndiaye’s situation overnight, while journalist Khadim Diakhate reported a verbal agreement with Tottenham that Arsenal were trying to overturn. The club’s behind‑the‑scenes efforts were described as a “big move against Tottenham”.

An Arsenal‑centred X account claimed Ndiaye’s agent was “basically begging us” to sign the winger, adding that the club had even checked on Cody Gakpo a few days earlier. The account called the winger front “very depressing” for Arsenal.

Implications for the clubs

Manchester City will add a 26‑year‑old Senegalese international who has earned 44 caps for his country, bolstering their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Arsenal’s failure to secure Ndiaye leaves a gap left by Martinelli’s departure and forces the Gunners to explore alternative targets before the window shuts.

Tottenham, who reportedly had a verbal agreement with the player, miss out on the signing as the deal with Manchester City is now finalised.
