Roma’s pursuit of Nusa stalls as Leipzig hold firm on winger
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that there are no ongoing negotiations between AS Roma and Norwegian winger Antonio Nusa, despite the Roman club’s vigorous activity in the transfer market. The statement, made on his YouTube channel, underscores that the Giallorossi have not entered concrete talks with the Leipzig player at this stage.
Roma’s primary objective remains securing an attacking left winger after the departure of Crysencio Summerville. The loss of the Giallorossi’s left‑wing option forced the club to explore alternative targets, with Antonio Nusa featuring among the names considered by Trigoria.
The Roman club has already welcomed Santiago Castro and Kostantinos Koulierakis. Nahuel Molina is also expected to join Gian Piero Gasperini’s side soon, further bolstering the squad.
Despite being on Roma’s shortlist, Antonio Nusa is not close to joining the capital. His entourage has not leaked any information about a concrete negotiation, €125 million and, with their return to the Champions League, they intend to retain the Norwegian winger.
Romano likened the current situation to last year’s Sancho negotiation, saying: “They said he was close, one step away, and it’s being negotiated, but in reality, there’s always been little substance.” He suggested that the public perception of closeness often masks a lack of substantive progress.
Consequently, Roma will continue to search for a left‑wing replacement while Nusa remains at Leipzig, leaving both clubs to pursue alternative strategies. The stalemate highlights the challenges of securing a proven winger in a competitive market.
