Roma aim to clinch Endrick loan in January after Madrid setback
Twenty‑year‑old Brazilian striker Endrick is at the centre of Roma’s renewed push to secure a loan from Real Madrid in the January transfer window, after the club’s earlier attempt following the World Cup fell through. The Giallorossi hope the Champions League tie on 14 October in Italy will accelerate talks.

Italian media say Roma came close to completing the loan in the previous European window, prompting the club to resume discussions now that the summer deadline has passed.
Negotiations tied to Champions League clash
The upcoming Champions League encounter between Roma and Real Madrid on 14 October in Italy offers a natural setting for executives to discuss the loan face‑to‑face. Club officials plan to use the match as a platform to negotiate a move that would see Endrick join the squad for the second half of the season.
Roma view the Brazilian as a valuable addition to their attacking line‑up and intend to persist with the pursuit despite the earlier failure to extract him from the Spanish side.
Player’s situation and future prospects
Endrick returned to Real Madrid after spending the latter half of the previous season on loan at Lyon, where he enjoyed regular minutes and a key role in attack. Back in Madrid, an early‑season injury kept him out of the first fixtures and, after recovery, he has featured only sporadically, often remaining on the bench.
Coach José Mourinho has publicly expressed a desire to keep Endrick in the squad, asking the youngster to stay in Madri and indicating he counts on him for the campaign. Consequently, Real Madrid chose not to release the player in the last window.
The situation may shift by January depending on how many minutes Endrick receives and his standing in the squad. Should opportunities remain limited, Roma will intensify their push for a loan arrangement.
No formal agreement exists yet; any transfer will hinge on negotiations between Roma and Real Madrid and, crucially, on the assessment made by Mourinho and the Spanish board.
Endrick, now 20, also features for the Brazil national team. He took part in recent friendlies against Australia and India, providing an assist, and regular club action could be pivotal for his development and his bid for a place in the 2030 World Cup cycle.
Former Brazil striker Alexandre Pato has suggested that Endrick needs a change, noting that Cardinale tried to bring him to Milan but nothing materialised. Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte Milan and Roma are the two clubs most convinced of securing the player in the January market, and Endrick has already given his consent to a loan move.
Endrick himself is keen on a Roma switch, confirming his approval and seeing the move as a route back to prominence. His father also backs the idea, pointing to the success of fellow Brazilian Wesley in Rome. While Milan also showed interest, Roma appear ahead after initial talks, and the 14 October Roma‑Real Madrid game could provide the final catalyst for the deal.
