Rising ticket rush puts Inter and Roma ahead while Lazio stalls

On a crisp Saturday morning at the San Siro, turnstiles are already humming as Inter finalises its 40,000 season tickets, a figure that puts the club level with Roma at the top of the Serie A subscription race, while Lazio lags far behind with roughly 4,500.

La Serie A restarts with data confirming renewed public interest: stadiums are set to record strong attendance this year, aiming to exceed the average of 30,000 spectators per match, a level already reached in the past two seasons.

Inter and Roma lead the subscription ranking for the 2026/27 campaign, each with about 40,000 tickets sold, and a handful of clubs sit close behind with significant numbers as the league prepares for its opening weekend.

Post‑pandemic surge and subscription race

Il Corriere dello Sport compiled the ranking and notes that the trend fits a consolidated pattern observed in recent years. After the full reopening of stadiums following the pandemic, attendances have risen by roughly 30% compared with 2022, driven by both subscription growth and higher demand for single tickets.

Inter closed its campaign at 40,000 subscribers, essentially matching Roma, which continues to fill a large part of the Olimpico through seasonal passes. Roma’s average attendance last season topped 62,000 spectators.

Behind the two leaders, Milan recorded around 30,000 subscriptions, although the figure could be higher at the campaign’s end. Genoa and Napoli travel with approximately 25,000 tickets each.

Bologna and Juventus follow with about 20,000 subscriptions each, the bianconeri (Juventus) having surpassed the 19,200 mark.

Lecce posted over 18,000 tickets before the free‑sale period, while Fiorentina stands at 14,556. Atalanta reached roughly 15,200, Frosinone sits at 13,000 and Cagliari a little above 13,000.

Lazio’s stark contrast and economic impact

Lazio remains an outlier with roughly 4,500 season tickets, a gap amplified by a hard‑line protest from supporters against patron and president Claudio Lotito, a dispute that continues from the previous season.

The return of the public is now a central economic factor. In the 2025/26 season Milan logged an average of 73,373 spectators, while Inter recorded an average of just 70 spectators and the nerazzurri figure was listed as 73,305. Roma also exceeded the 62,000 average mark.

These numbers confirm that, after years when Italian stadiums were often linked to outdated facilities and infrastructural challenges, the demand for live football remains at very high levels across the league.
