Manager confirms omission
Roberto De Zerbi later clarified that Richarlison will not travel to Anfield for the Tuesday (15) match at 16:00 Brasília time, and that the striker is already omitted from Tottenham’s Premier League registered squad.
“Richarlison, you already know everything, and nothing changes for the League Cup or the Premier League. The situation is the same. Richarlison will not play even if available. Not in the League Cup,” the manager said, leaving no doubt about his role.
Richarlison began the campaign as a starter against Brentford in the Premier League, but the club subsequently told him he could seek a new destination. Everton and Turkey’s Trabzonspor were mentioned as possible suitors.
On Friday (11) the striker rejected a proposal from Vasco, meaning no transfer materialised and he remains on Tottenham’s books.
To date he has made 134 appearances for the club, scoring 32 goals and providing 15 assists. Despite a strong record against Liverpool – four goals in seven meetings – he will miss the Tuesday encounter.
