Richarlison's departure from Tottenham eliminates Turkey as an option
Elite reserve Richarlison has confirmed that he wants to leave Tottenham, but for the 29‑year‑old Brazilian the potential markets are shrinking rapidly. Turkey is also no longer an option, because the Süper Lig transfer window is already closed, while he is no longer registered for the Premier League with the Spurs.
Richarlison himself said he wants to leave the Spurs after the transfer to Everton fell through. Subsequently, Trabzonspor was considered the hottest trail for the striker. The Turkish club had already signed star Mohamed Salah and could have welcomed another top‑class striker in Richarlison.
Missed Opportunity in Turkey
The Turkish club Trabzonspor had already signed star Mohamed Salah and could have welcomed another top‑class striker in Richarlison. However, as the Süper Lig transfer window is now closed, Turkey is no longer an option for the Brazilian.
Tottenham has not registered the 29‑year‑old Brazilian for the Premier League, so he cannot play in the English top flight this season. Thus he remains with the Spurs, although he is actively looking for a new club.
Possible Destinations Outside Europe
Richarlison's representatives are working diligently on a solution, with Saudi Arabia, Portugal and a return to Brazil seen as the most likely options. In Saudi Arabia the transfer window remains open until 12 October, while in Portugal signings can still be made until 15 September.
The Saudi option offers the longest timeframe, but the league is not the player's preferred destination. In contrast, the Portuguese and Brazilian markets require swift action, as tight deadlines already apply there.
For Portugal urgency is required, as the transfer window closes on 15 September. In Brazil the opportunity to sign the striker ends already next Friday.
In the summer, Richarlison made 134 appearances for the Spurs, scoring 32 goals and providing 15 assists. In total he has played 276 Premier League matches, so these figures will not increase further for now.
