Richarlison blames Tottenham for loan‑limit block to Vasco move

Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison has publicly blamed the club after his hoped‑for loan to Vasco da Gama fell apart, saying the English side hit its loan quota and stopped the Brazilian’s dream move back home. The 29‑year‑old had already been left out of Roberto De Zerbi’s Premier League squad, limiting his playing chances.

Loan deal collapses

Tottenham, often referred to as the Spurs, reached an agreement with Vasco da Gama for the 29‑year‑old Brazilian. However, Vasco failed to settle personal terms, causing the transfer to collapse.

Richarlison took to Instagram to lay the blame at Tottenham’s door, claiming the club hit its loan limit and blocked the move. He wrote, “Hey there, Vasco fans,” before thanking the supporters. The post was translated via geGlobo and included an Image of the player.

In the same message, he said he had made it clear to Pedrinho and Felipe that he wanted to play for Vasco until December, placing the Brazilian side above any other offers. He stressed that his priority remained with Vasco despite interest from other clubs.

Richarlison added that he hopes to arrive at São Januário in Barreira soon and fulfil a family dream linked to his grandfather. He promised to wear the Vasco shirt as soon as possible.

He also expressed gratitude to the Vasco fanbase, saying the messages they sent had been “many kind messages” and that he looked forward to putting on the club’s shirt soon.

Past moves and current status

Earlier this month, a potential return to Everton also collapsed after the British transfer window closed on 1 September. Trabzonspor submitted bids of £15 million and £20 million, but those offers did not materialise either. Both proposals were rejected, leaving the Turkish club without the striker.

Roberto De Zerbi’s 25‑man Premier League squad does not include Richarlison, leaving him unable to feature in league matches until at least January. He did take part in the first‑team warm‑up session on Thursday, showing he remains fit.
