(Image: John Walton/PA Wire) Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison is trying to force the club to rip up his contract and allow him to move back to Brazil, according to reports in his home nation. The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from Spurs throughout the summer transfer window.
"After everything I've gone through in recent years, I decided that NEVER AGAIN would they decide my future for me," the striker wrote. He added that pressure, threats and retaliation would not deter him and that he would not accept a decision that did not suit him.
Contract status and playing record
Richarlison has not been named in Roberto De Zerbi's 25‑man Premier League squad, meaning his only first‑team appearance this season came in the opening match against Brentford. He has made 134 appearances for Tottenham since joining from Everton in 2022, scoring 32 goals and providing 15 assists. The 29‑year‑old Brazilian remains under contract with the club.
Transfer rumours and legal options
Between Spurs and Everton, talks of a potential swap involving Iliman Ndiaye surfaced, but the forward eventually completed a move to Manchester City. Richarlison has also been linked with Turkish side Trabzonspor, yet Tottenham rejected two offers, the highest reported at £20 million.
Reports suggest he is now targeting a return to his childhood club Vasco da Gama, although the Brazilian side cannot meet the asking price of more than £20 million and FIFA regulations make a loan deal difficult. Globo claims he is prepared to take legal action to cancel his contract, citing Renan Lodi's precedent after being excluded from a Saudi Pro League squad.
Despite the turmoil, Richarlison confirmed he still holds a valid contract with Tottenham and will remain at the club's disposal. The next steps for both player and club remain uncertain.
