Rice close to renewal: £350,000 a week
Declan Rice is close to a deal to extend his contract with Arsenal, according to the BBC. The English midfielder, bronze medalist at the World Cup and captain of England, should see his salary rise significantly.
The journey from West Ham to the heart of the Gunners
The 27‑year‑old midfielder arrived from West Ham for £105 million in the summer of 2023, immediately becoming a key piece for the Gunners. Spanish manager Mikel Arteta could no longer do without his contribution in midfield.
Rice’s current contract expires at the end of next season, but negotiations, started last March, are now in an advanced stage. The deal provides a salary increase from £240 000 per week to around £350 000.
With this increase, Rice will reach the wage level of teammate Bukayo Saka, the club’s highest‑paid player. The new salary places him at the centre of Arsenal’s wage structure.
Rice has surpassed 150 starts for Arsenal and, this week, Thomas Tuchel described him as one of Europe’s best midfielders. Mikel Arteta, who has just renewed for another four years, will do everything to get his former West Ham player to sign the new deal.
