Free agent Neto is expected to undergo his Juventus medical tests on September 27, ready to begin training with Luciano Spalletti’s team from Monday. The 37-year-old goalkeeper will provide essential cover for the squad, with his first training session under the manager scheduled for the start of the week.

Emergency cover for the Bianconeri

The Bianconeri moved to secure an experienced goalkeeper following a devastating anterior cruciate ligament injury to Kamil Grabara. The Polish shot-stopper sustained the damage during a routine training exercise and is expected to be out of action for up to seven months following surgery.

Juventus identified the need to bolster the squad to support Vicario, leading them to pursue a short-term deal for the experienced Brazilian. Neto, who saw his contract with Botafogo expire on June 30, agreed to terms quickly to facilitate the move. While medical tests had initially seemed possible on Saturday, the arrival of the goalkeeper was pushed back by several hours.

A familiar face returns to Turin

This transfer marks a reunion for the goalkeeper, who previously represented the club between 2015 and 2017. During that initial spell, he wore the white and black stripes before moving on to play for Valencia, Barcelona, Bournemouth, and Arsenal.

The veteran is expected to arrive in Italy shortly to finalise the agreement, which runs until June 30, 2027. With the squad currently on a break for international duty, he will integrate into the group when training resumes at the start of the week. This move brings an end to his time as a free agent following his departure from Botafogo, and he is now set to undergo his medical at the J|Medical Centre this Sunday.
