Report: €38m Badiashile loan could revive Napoli’s defence

Chelsea’s €38 million purchase of 25‑year‑old Benoit Badiashile from AS Monaco in January 2023 is now back on Napoli’s radar, with the Italian club reportedly ready to revive its defence by securing the French centre‑back on loan as the Blues appear increasingly willing to let him depart.

The 25‑year‑old struggled at Stamford Bridge last season, making only 16 appearances, and could finally earn regular Champions League minutes if loaned to Napoli.

Napoli have already approached Chelsea about Badiashile, stating they would only consider a move if it takes the form of a loan.

Chelsea had been hesitant, but Sun Sport suggest the loan could be negotiated if Maxence Lacroix arrives from Crystal Palace, with Axel Disasi moving the opposite way.

Badiashile’s contract runs until June 2030, meaning a loan would preserve his long‑term value for the Blues while offering him playing time.

Napoli’s defensive line is thin after Alessandro Buongiorno’s meniscus surgery rules him out for two to three months, and Sam Beukema remains not fully fit under new coach Max Allegri.

A photograph taken at Cobham, England on JANUARY 27 shows the French defender warming up at Chelsea’s training ground, underscoring the proximity of the two clubs.

The potential loan illustrates how clubs with high‑fee acquisitions, such as the €38 million outlay by the Blues, are exploring temporary moves to balance squad depth and player development.
