Reijnders opts for Al‑Qadsiah: €100 million in Saudi Arabia

Tijjani Reijnders explained in an interview with the Algemeen Dagblad that the main reason for leaving Manchester City was the promise of regular playing time, alongside a potential four‑year deal in Saudi Arabia reportedly worth around one hundred million euros.

Financial and sporting considerations

Reijnders indicated that both Atlético Madrid and Nottingham Forest showed interest, but that their offers did not meet the minimum price set by Manchester City. He noted that amounts of fifty to sixty million euros are now considered “normal” in England, but such sums are generally only paid to players who are almost always in the starting eleven.

The midfielder emphasized that he did not receive the desired playing time in the second half of the season, which led him to decide to leave the club. “For me, that was the main reason for wanting to leave City: I wanted to enjoy playing football again,” he said.

In mid‑August, Reijnders reached an agreement with Al‑Qadsiah, after which he confirmed that he has no regrets about the decision. “The overall picture just made sense to me,” said the Dutch international.

Reijnders added that he is now back on the pitch with a smile, something he missed last season.
