Reedijk’s Hibs appointment ensures Bradley remains at Shamrock Rovers

Hibernian have confirmed the appointment of Dutchman Marink Reedijk as their new manager, a move that ends speculation that Stephen Bradley might leave Shamrock Rovers for the Edinburgh club. The 35‑year‑old succeeds David Gray on the Easter Road hot‑seat, and his arrival guarantees Bradley remains in Dublin.

Reedijk’s coaching pedigree

Reedijk brings a résumé that includes academy work at Ajax and West Bromwich Albion, as well as senior coaching roles at KSV Roeselare, Vitesse and RSCA Futures before leading Beveren to an unbeaten Belgian second‑tier title last season. His reputation for attacking football and strong team culture was highlighted by Hibernian’s sporting director Malky Mackay, who said Reedijk is an "excellent fit to take the team forward".

Assisting him at Easter Road will be fellow Dutchman Rogier Molhoek, who will help implement Reedijk’s philosophy. The new manager will travel with the squad to a La Manga training camp on Saturday, preparing for his first match away to Dundee United on 10 October.

Reedijk described Hibernian as "one of the biggest clubs in Scottish football" with a unique history and passionate supporters. He added, "I can feel the ambition and see the clarity of what the club is trying to achieve," and pledged to build an "assertive, brave, intense and committed" side that gives fans something to rally behind.

Hibs sit 10th in the Premiership with two wins from seven matches and have already endured a gut‑wrenching Conference League exit. Under Gray, the club finished third in 2024/25 and fifth the previous season, and they now face a Scottish Cup semi‑final against city rivals Hearts on 1 November, which will be Reedijk’s fifth game in charge.

Gray was dismissed after losing four of his opening six league fixtures this term. His two‑year spell saw Hibs reach the League Cup semi‑final in November, but the poor start prompted the club to seek a new direction.

The appointment also quashes Bradley, 41, might have departed Shamrock Rovers for Hibs. The Irish Independent had listed him among the leading candidates, noting his openness to the move and a previous link with a vacancy at Lincoln City.

Bradley remains at Shamrock Rovers, where the Irish side sit second on goal difference in the League of Ireland Premier Division, with a game in hand on leaders St Patrick’s Athletic. The club continues to chase a sixth league crown in seven seasons, and his continued presence preserves the current title race dynamics.
