Reds, Blues and Glens dominate early in Women’s Premiership

Reds, Blues and Glens all secured victories in the Women’s Premiership on a day that saw Cliftonville thrash Larne 8-0 at the Larne Academy of Sport, Linfield dispatch Lisburn Ladies 6-1 and Glentoran overcome Crusaders 5-1, keeping Cliftonville five points clear at the summit.

The first half at the Academy of Sport was dominated by Cliftonville’s firepower as Toni-Leigh Finnegan, Teegan Lynch, Aoibhe O'Neill and Charlotte Havern each found the net, giving the away Reds a comfortable lead before the break.

In the second half the Reds pressed on, with Kirsty McGuinness, Louise McDaniel, Vicky Carleton and Lydia Thompson adding four more goals to seal the three points and reinforce their top‑of‑the‑table position.

The win left Cliftonville five points clear at the top of the Women’s Premiership table, while the Inver Reds remain rooted to the bottom after the heavy defeat.

Elsewhere, the Blues continued their positive run as Linfield recorded a 6-1 triumph over Lisburn Ladies, highlighted by two goals from Eve Reilly, a hat‑trick by Cora Chamber, a strike from Sophie McKnight and a consolation goal by Mea Mezza.

Glentoran, the Glens, bounced back from a prior loss with a bright start, seeing Jess Foy and Naoimi McLaughlin score within the opening six minutes against Crusaders.

Naomi McLaughlin then registered her first goal for the east Belfast side, before Nadene Caldwell, Mia Moore and Naomi McLaughlin each added to the tally, completing a 5-1 victory.

The day’s results underline Cliftonville’s dominance, the Blues’ continued momentum and the Glens’ resurgence, setting a clear hierarchy as the Women’s Premiership season progresses.
