Red Bull Salzburg open perfect start in Frauen-Bundesliga with second win

Red Bull Salzburg extended their perfect start to the Frauen-Bundesliga season with a 2–0 victory over Union Kleinmünchen/FC Blau-Weiß Linz on Saturday. The Salzburg side now sit top of the league alongside Sturm Graz after two rounds. Katja Wienerroither, the team captain, opened the scoring in the 37th minute before Emelie Kobler doubled the lead in the 66th.

The match, hosted at the Akademie Liefering, saw Red Bull Salzburg dominate from the outset. Wienerroither’s goal came from a well-worked team move, while Kobler’s strike sealed the win after a defensive error from the visitors. The victory means Red Bull Salzburg have claimed the maximum six points from their opening two fixtures.

In the late match on Saturday, First Vienna FC and the Spielgemeinschaft Südburgenland/TSV Hartberg played out a 1–1 draw. Claudia Wasser put Vienna ahead in the 38th minute, but Hannah Maurer equalised for Hartberg in the 65th. The result marked Hartberg’s first point of the season.

Red Bull Salzburg’s perfect start contrasts with the struggles of other teams. LASK lost 0–2 to Sturm Graz on Friday, while Sunday’s fixtures saw SCR Altach face Austria Wien and Rapid Wien take on SKN St. Pölten.

With two rounds completed, Red Bull Salzburg and Sturm Graz lead the Frauen-Bundesliga on six points each. The next round of fixtures will test the current top sides further as the season gathers pace.
