Real Madrid's power play: targeting Diomande and Rodri

Real Madrid are looking to plug a midfield void and add depth to the right flank, targeting Manchester City midfielder Rodri and RB Leipzig right‑back Yan Diomande. Rodri has signalled he will accept any Real Madrid proposal, and the Spanish club have outlined a contract that runs to 2030.

The club’s offer includes a lucrative deal that would keep the midfielder at the Bernabeu until 2030. Such a long‑term contract reflects Madrid’s intent to build a core around him.

Manchester City are reportedly seeking a fee of around €100 million, while Real Madrid aim to settle the transfer for roughly €60 million. The disparity underscores the Spanish side’s desire to secure the player at a reduced price.

The pursuit of Rodri comes as Real Madrid have entered a position of power in two high‑profile transfer operations. Their leverage is evident in the simultaneous chase for a new right‑back.

Late last night the club launched an effort to sign right‑back Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig to bolster the right side. Diomande’s arrival would complement the midfield reinforcement and give Madrid a balanced upgrade.

Rodri is seen as the missing piece in Real Madrid’s midfield puzzle after his standout World Cup performance that helped Spain win a second title. His ability to control the centre aligns with the tactical needs of the Spanish giants.

According to a report from El Larguero, the World Cup winner is desperate to return to Spain and does not care about the financial specifics, saying he would join Madrid for any offer that satisfies his current club. He emphasized his desire to play in his home country over monetary considerations.

Manchester City have been urging Rodri to sign a new deal, but the player has stalled talks in the hope of a summer exit, leaving the Blues hopeful of a substantial payout. The stalemate keeps the transfer window open for Madrid’s advance.

Real Madrid remain in contact with his entourage and are proposing a lucrative contract that would keep him at the Bernabeu until 2030. The Spanish club hopes to finalise the deal without meeting City’s asking price.

If the negotiations succeed, Madrid will secure a midfield anchor and add Diomande to strengthen the flank, while City will lose a key midfielder but could reap a large windfall. Both clubs stand to reshape their squads ahead of the new season.
