The Real Madrid Academy triumphed at the Santiago Bernabéu by winning the Under‑20 Intercontinental Cup against Santiago Wanderers with a 3‑1 scoreline, offering the youth setup an international victory that consolidates its position in youth football.

A historic setting at the Bernabéu

The Santiago Bernabéu hosted for the first time the competition that pits the youth champions of Europe and South America. The whites arrived as winners of the UEFA Youth League, while the Wanderers came as Under‑20 Copa Libertadores champions after beating Flamengo on penalties.

The match, covered by Europa Press, displayed the intensity of the Chilean opponent, which sought to close down spaces and maintain pressure from the start, forcing the whites to respond quickly.

Development of the final and key moments

From the 29th minute, the game changed when Alexander Dubó was sent off, leaving Santiago Wanderers with one player fewer. The numerical advantage allowed Real Madrid to dominate possession and, before halftime, Daniel Yáñez opened the scoring with a free kick that beat Fabiano Avello.

The equaliser came in the 49th minute thanks to Christian Silva, forcing the whites to regroup. The Chilean defence kept its plan for more than half an hour, looking for quick outlets.

Fran Santamaría, initially on the bench, scored the second goal for the whites in the 81st minute, breaking the opponent's resistance. Two more dismissals —Valenzuela and Carvacho— left the Wanderers with eight players, accumulating seven cards in ten minutes and eleven in total.
