Real Madrid push to extend Turkish midfielder Guler's deal to 2031
Real Madrid are negotiating a two‑year extension for Turkish midfielder Alda Guler while manager Jose Mourinho praises his talent, and the club also eyes a new deal for veteran goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Extension terms for Guler
According to the Spanish newspaper AS on the 6th, the club and Guler have agreed to stretch his contract from its current expiry at the end of June 2029 to the end of June 2031. The deal is expected to include a salary increase that reflects his performances and standing within the squad.
The 21‑year‑old joined Real Madrid from Turkish side Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023. After limited minutes in his first season, he has featured more regularly, recording 19 goals and 28 assists in 119 official matches.
Mourinho, who has overseen all seven La Liga games this season and started Guler in five, said: “His quality of play is superb – vision, decision‑making, play‑making and the stability he brings are exceptional. He is a young player with great potential and a strong influence on the team.”
In parallel, Real Madrid are in advanced talks with Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, 34, whose current contract ends in June 2028. A new agreement could run until June 2031.
