Real Madrid monitor Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister as 2027 deadline looms

Just as the 2027 summer window draws near, Real Madrid are closely monitoring Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, the 27-year-old Argentina international whose contract runs at Anfield until June 2028. The Spanish giants see the €70 million‑rated player as a potential midfield addition, while Liverpool have signalled no intention to extend his deal.

Contract situation at Anfield

Mac Allister remains under contract at Anfield until June 2028, meaning Liverpool face no immediate pressure to sell. Reports indicate the club does not intend to offer a new contract, leaving the midfielder in the final 12 months of his deal by summer 2027. His father and agent, Carlos Mac Allister, told 365Scores Arabia that Liverpool had not approached the family about a renewal and that there had been no approach from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid's midfield strategy

According to Bernabeu Digital, Real Madrid have been tracking Mac Allister for the 2027 window, viewing him as one of several targets to strengthen their midfield. The club previously considered Rodri, who ultimately joined FC Barcelona, and currently have Eduardo Camavinga at the Santiago Bernabeu, limiting space for another signing. Nevertheless, the Spanish giants keep Mac Allister on a shortlist alongside Enzo Fernandez.

Potential outcomes for Liverpool

Should Liverpool allow the contract to run its course, Mac Allister could either sign a renewal or be sold as his value approaches free‑agency status. The midfielder himself expressed disappointment at the lack of a new deal, saying, “As everyone knows, I received the news that the club was not in a position to offer me a new contract, which makes me very, very sad.” He added that he will give his 100 per cent until the last day he is at the club. Liverpool’s decision on his future will shape both the Reds’ midfield plans and Real Madrid’s transfer agenda.
