Real Madrid guarantees Courtois' renewal and spares the star

On Sunday afternoon, inside the Santiago Bernabéu, the Real Madrid executives confirmed that they have reached a preliminary agreement to renew the contract of Thibaut Courtois, the 34‑year‑old Belgian goalkeeper, preventing the star from leaving the club at no cost.

Details of the agreement

The Merengue club and Courtois have reached a preliminary agreement for the renewal, and the formalisation of the deal should happen soon. According to agent Fabrizio Romano, the goalkeeper will extend the link for at least one more season, after a verbal agreement has already been concluded.

The current contract expires at the end of the season, in June 2027, but it will be extended. The extension guarantees Real Madrid the presence of Courtois at least until the next season.

José Mourinho and the Real Madrid hierarchy showed no hesitation in renewing a player they consider key. The coach described Courtois as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Thibaut Courtois is 34 years old and is completing his ninth season as Real Madrid's goalkeeper. This season, the Belgian international has already featured in nine games.

In addition to Courtois, the young forward Arda Güler is also preparing to renew his contract with the club. Güler's renewal reinforces the strategy of retaining emerging talents.

Real Madrid consider Courtois a key player and one of the best in the world in his position. The new contract will be signed soon, right after the verbal agreement.

The news was initially published on Bola na Rede, highlighting the importance of securing the continuity of a star without additional costs for the squad. Keeping Courtois reinforces Real Madrid's defensive solidity in the next campaign.
