Real Madrid fires back at Atlético with scathing video after derby

Real Madrid TV published a nearly four‑minute video on Tuesday, directly responding to Atlético de Madrid’s posts and coach Diego Simeone’s remarks after the derby that ended 2‑1 to the Atlético side. The clip opens with the line “La memoria es corta; piden respeto para los árbitros, pero sólo a veces”.

Video compiles past refereeing incidents

Real Madrid’s official channel assembled statements, press releases, social‑media posts and archive footage into a video lasting almost four minutes. The material links a series of ARBITRAL episodes that have involved Atlético over recent seasons. It aims to answer the club’s earlier complaints and the coach’s remarks after the match.

Mourinho’s refereeing challenge

The dispute traces back to José Mourinho’s post‑match press conference, where the Portuguese manager displayed two photographs to support his refereeing grievance. One image showed Cristian “Cuti” Romero tackling Jude Bellingham, the other captured Kang‑In Lee’s challenge on Federico Valverde. Mourinho declared, “Podíamos ahorrar la rueda de prensa porque la historia del partido está aquí. Son dos rojas claras”, and added, “No quiero decir que esto estaba preparado, quiero creer que se equivocan”.

In the production, the derby officiating was labelled “escandaloso”, directly targeting Atlético’s discourse. The clip juxtaposes images of referees with the club’s own past comments, suggesting a pattern of bias. Real Madrid’s narrative implies that respect for officials is being demanded selectively.

Among the recovered items are earlier statements by Diego Simeone, who once questioned La Liga’s operation and warned it was “peligrosamente preparada para el Madrid”. Miguel Ángel Gil Marín also featured, recalling his claim that “Ahora exigen respeto, pero si no les gusta lo que ven, comunicado al canto”. The video uses these excerpts to underline its argument, with the words Las, MADRID, CON, VIDEO and Para appearing as captions throughout.

Atlético de Madrid reacted swiftly on social media, publishing a video that read “STOP ACOSO ARBITRAL YA” in both Spanish and English. The club also posted a message referencing Real Madrid’s schedule, stating “Este año tienen un nuevo reto. Tres semanas sin Liga. Esta temporada empiezan muy pronto”. Their reply sought to counter Mourinho’s accusations and defend the club’s position.

Real Madrid answered with its own archive‑rich video, asserting, “El respeto aquí no parecía tan importante; pides respeto pero te diriges así a los colegiados en los partidos”. The footage features Simeone in discussions with referees, as well as former Atlético figures Germán Burgos and Arda Turan, among other past incidents. By resurfacing Atlético’s own social‑media post that urged “Retuit si quieres que se aplique el reglamento igual para todos”, the white club reinforced its stance.

The exchange highlights the ongoing tension between the two Madrid clubs over officiating standards. Both sides have signalled that the debate will continue as the season progresses, with further statements likely to emerge.
