Real Madrid and Barça battle for JJ Gabriel, Kompany, United worried

While the 15‑year‑old striker JJ Gabriel is already on the radar of European top clubs, Manchester United is increasingly worried about his future. Real Madrid and Barça are battling for his signature, while United is unsure whether he will still leave the club.

Big clubs show interest

Real Madrid has intervened in the race for JJ Gabriel, one of the most talked‑about talents from Manchester United's academy. The striker is barely 15 years old, but is already on the radar of several European top clubs. Barcelona, Bayern Munich, PSG and Chelsea are also said to be interested.

According to multiple sources Real Madrid wants to bring the young Englishman to Spain in the short term and place him with Castilla, the reserve team that plays in Spanish professional football. The move would be attractive for a player who wants to experience senior football at a young age. Gabriel turns sixteen on 6 October and holds an EU passport, making a move within the European Union possible from that date.

United's concerns and Gabriel's future

A remarkable situation has arisen around Gabriel: people from his entourage would be disappointed in Manchester United, because promises of a clear pathway to the first team have not been fulfilled. United gave him his debut during preparation under Michael Carrick, in a friendly match against Atlético Madrid in Stockholm.

It was even suggested that Gabriel could become the youngest player ever for Manchester United on Wednesday against Brighton, but those plans ultimately fell through. United lost the match 3‑2 after having led 2‑0.

Carrick emphasized after the game that caution is required with a player of barely 15 years: “We must be very careful with the whole situation. He is a young boy and from the club we must look after his welfare and the exposure he receives.”

Gabriel is currently not training with United, but the club has not given up hope of keeping him, although the reasons for his possible departure remain unclear. Real Madrid already sees an opportunity to bring one of the biggest English talents of his generation to Spain.
