RB Salzburg eyes ex-Dortmund keeper Bonmann to shore up the posts
Ex-BVB-Profi Hendrik Bonmann is in the Visier of RB Salzburg, a Torhüter with German Wurzeln and a Bulgarian Arbeitgeber now listed by the club as a top candidate for Verstärkung between the Pfosten. The Portal transferfeed.com reported that the Austrian Traditionsklub has placed him on its Liste as the Verantwortlichen search urgently for a new goalkeeper.
RB Salzburg finished the last Saison in third Platz in the heimischen Liga and now faces a gap after the Abgang of Alexander Schlager to Werder Bremen. The club’s recent league performance underscores the need for a seasoned keeper to replace the departing veteran.
Trainer Daniel Röhl, the new head coach, is said to be pushing for a Neuverpflichtung in the goalkeeper Position. Reports indicate the club is already in Verhandlungen with two German Torhüter to address the vacancy.
Bei Borussia Dortmund, Bonmann was active from 2013 to 2017. The born‑and‑raised Essener arrived from Rot‑Weiss Essen and amassed 73 appearances for the BVB II side in the Regionalliga, establishing himself as a reliable professional.
After leaving the BVB, Bonmann moved to 1860 München and later added experience at several clubs, including a spell at Wolfsberger AC in Österreich between 2022 and 2024. These stints broadened his exposure to different leagues and styles of play.
Currently, Bonmann is under contract with the Bulgarian club Ludogorets Razgrad, having joined in July 2024. His contract runs until the summer of 2027, making any transfer a significant move for both player and potential suitor.
A Verpflichtung of the 32‑year‑old would bring the urgently needed experience to RB Salzburg’s goalkeeping ranks. Transferfeed.com also lists Christian Früchtl, Thomas Dähne and Jonas Krumrey as possible alternatives for the Austrian side.
The pursuit of Bonmann highlights RB Salzburg’s strategic intent to reinforce a key area with proven talent, signalling a proactive approach as they aim to improve on their recent league standing and compete more strongly in domestic competitions.
