Rangers reject Galatasaray bid for Chermiti, keep his future

Rangers have turned down a bid for 22‑year‑old striker Youssef Chermiti, with manager Derek McInnes saying the offer fell short of the Scottish Premiership club’s valuation; Chermiti, who limped off injured after starting Saturday’s home game against Hibernian, arrived from Everton in September 2025 as the Ibrox side’s costliest signing since Tore Andre Flo in 2000.

McInnes stressed that Chermiti carries a big tag but also high potential, declaring, "It's no surprise that he's a player who's got a big tag on him and he's got high potential, but thankfully he's our player and that will continue to be the case." He added that retaining the striker is part of the plan to build a stronger squad.

The forward has already contributed 15 goals in 43 appearances for Rangers, 30 of them as a starter, and has represented Portugal at under‑21 level, underscoring his importance to the team.

Reports linked the rejected offer to Turkish champions Galatasaray, a claim McInnes addressed to BBC Scotland, stating, "I'm led to believe the club's valuation of the player hasn't been met." He noted that interest from other clubs is simply business.

Since McInnes arrived from Heart of Midlothian, Rangers have completed nine signings this summer and continue to chase further targets, noting that several bids are on the table and news could emerge in the coming days. Who has your Premiership club brought in & let go this summer?

The decision to retain Chermiti means he remains at Ibrox despite his injury, while Galatasaray will have to look elsewhere for a forward, underscoring the club's commitment to holding onto its most expensive purchase in over two decades.
