Rangers hold firm as 25‑year‑old Raskin spurns Hull City
Rangers player Nicolas Raskin, the 25‑year‑old Belgian international, has flatly rejected Hull City’s approach, leaving the Ibrox club to decide what it should do now. The rejection comes after Hull, the newly‑promoted Premier League side from Yorkshire, put a hefty sum on the table.
Hull tried their luck, but it failed. The Tigers’ attempt to secure the midfielder did not progress beyond initial talks.
According to reports from the Daily Record, Hull were ready to meet Rangers’ valuation in principle, yet the player’s camp slammed the brakes on the whole deal. Raskin simply has no interest in moving to the MKM Stadium.
Hull City reportedly offered somewhere between £12m and £14m, while Rangers are clinging to a valuation north of £20m. That creates a massive gap in Scottish football terms.
Money is only half the battle; the player wants elite European football, and his representatives are working overtime to land a move to a far bigger stage.
Raskin’s last 12 months have been standout: 33 Scottish Premiership outings in the 2025/26 campaign, six goals, seven assists, nearly 2,800 minutes and an average rating of 7.54, the highest in the Rangers squad. He also made eight Europa League appearances, driving the engine of Ibrox.
At the World Cup, the Belgian started every group match, including a 4‑1 thrashing of the USA on 4 July, which turned plenty of heads across the continent.
Real Betis, Atalanta, Bologna and Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the situation, alongside other clubs from La Liga, Serie A and the Premier League.
“They need to hold firm. Completely. Cashing in on a 25‑year‑old international coming off the best season of his career for a £14m package from a promoted club makes zero sense,” a Rangers source said.
Manager Derek McInnes is attempting a delicate rebuild at Ibrox, and Raskin was the heartbeat of that midfield. Selling him without a ready‑made substitute would wreck the balance of the team, no matter how much cash comes through the door.
From the player’s end, the stance is understandable. At 25, fresh off a run to the World Cup quarter‑finals, he is sitting on offers from sides playing in the Champions League or top European leagues.
A sale above £20m to a club like Betis or Atalanta would give Raskin the platform he wants while handing Rangers a massive financial boost. The advice is clear: say no to Hull, wait for the right offer from a settled top‑half side or a European regular.
