Ramos scores early in Portugal's opener without Cristiano Ronaldo

Goncalo Ramos found the back of the net right away in Portugal's first match without Cristiano Ronaldo, contributing to the 4‑2 victory over Denmark in the Nations League. The young Milan striker then said that the Ronaldo issue did not affect the importance of the match for the team.

The first goal without Ronaldo

The Milan player explained that his move was “à la Romario”, a play he often practices in training. “When you are facing the goalkeeper it is always difficult and I made this decision,” Ramos said immediately after scoring.

The national team withdrawal by Cristiano Ronaldo was halted after his coach, Jorge Jesus, questioned him, prompting the star to return to the field.

Ramos, a reference point for Portugal

With Ronaldo absent, the Portuguese side chose Ramos as the sole offensive reference, entrusting him with the key role in Jorge Jesus's tactical setup. After the goal against Norway, he provided an assist to Joao Cancelo and, a few minutes later, he finished the match with a left-footed shot on a deep ball from Bruno Fernandes.

His performances for the national team show great attacking movements, exquisite first touches and a quality of play that excites Milan fans.

Milan counts on him

The international break period has had a positive effect on Ramos, who has not scored in Serie A since August 28, the date of his first goal for Milan against Venezia in the 2‑0 win.

The red-and-black club, which has invested €74 million plus bonuses for the striker, is working with Stefano Amorim on a plan to reduce his mileage and make him more effective in the final meters of play, ahead of the upcoming match against Sassuolo.

Ramos concluded by reiterating that “everything that has happened has not affected the importance of the match, we always want to win and we think about the next one.” His current form gives Milan good hope for the league restart.
