Ramos arrives at Milan amid 32°C Duomo celebration and fan frenzy
Gonçalo Ramos was greeted as the most expensive player in Milan’s history at the flagship store on Via Dante in Milano, with nearly four hundred fans gathering in the Duomo area on 19 August for the celebration as temperatures reached 32 °C.
Massive welcome in Duomo
Almost four hundred supporters, including children perched on their parents’ shoulders, gathered to admire a man valued at more than 70 million. The crowd sang chants such as “Ramos, bring us the star” and “Ramos one of us”, while another shouted “Sei il mio idolo”. Autographs and selfies flowed freely.
The warm reception was seen as a perfect way to build momentum ahead of Ramos’s Serie A debut against Torino on Sunday. The club hopes the atmosphere will translate into a strong start to the season.
Ramos outlines ambition, transfer and future goals
Ramos reflected on his first three weeks, describing them as “fantastic” and saying the club’s energy feels wonderful. He called Milan “one of the best clubs in the world”.
When asked about being the most expensive player in Milan’s history, he replied “no pressure, I only think about winning every match”. He will wear the number 9 shirt, acknowledging a recent “curse” around it but insisting his aim is the scudetto.

The Portuguese forward said he draws inspiration from Ronaldo “Il Fenomeno”, from Van Basten who also wore the number 9 at Milan, and from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, calling him “a phenomenon”. He added he has not yet spoken to Ibrahimovic but hopes to soon.
Ramos explained that the move happened “in a flash”: after the World Cup he received a call and the deal was sealed within a week. He dismissed rumours of medical examinations fifteen days before the announcement as false.
He chose Milan not only for its prestige but also because of coach Ruben Amorim, stating “I share his football idea and needed a coach like him”. Amorim reportedly wanted Ramos strongly for the project.

Ramos praised the young squad, mentioning Francesco Camarda as a strong teammate from whom he can learn. He described his own approach as ‘instinct’, stressing the importance of mentality over talent and believing he can score at least fifteen goals for Milan.
He also commented on Cristiano Ronaldo’s possible retirement, saying “I don’t know what football would be without him, it feels strange”.
