Rabiot: France dominated, but Donnarumma saved Italy

Speaking into the microphones of Sky Sport after the 1-1 draw between France and Italy in Saint‑Denis, Milan midfielder Adrien Rabiot said that France dominated the game, but that a great Donnarumma saved Italy with several decisive saves.

Rabiot said the French created more chances, winning back balls and pressing high from the first half. “The Blues played a good match but we obviously dominated,” he stated. “We pressed high, but we missed the second goal,” he added.

Decisive moments of the second half

In the second half Italy equalised through Olise, but shortly after France slowed down. Rabiot admitted “after Olise’s goal we stopped playing a bit.” Donnarumma delivered a spectacular performance, saving three or four shots.

Rabiot spoke about Zidane’s role, which asks players to “act immediately to get the ball, play more one‑on‑one and show team spirit.” “Tonight it was evident: we all attacked and defended together,” he commented.

The midfielder also praised his teammates’ speed, citing Dembele, Doue and Olise who “run like madmen” in attack. “Out there they’re all running like madmen, both Dembele, Doue and Olise,” he said.

Rabiot recalled that in a week the league restarts and the tour de force with Milan resumes, but first there is the match against Belgium, crucial to finish in first place. “It will be important to end up on top of the group,” he reiterated.

The player concluded by stating that, despite the result, he is satisfied and will focus on Monday’s game, hoping to get back to fitness without too many injuries before returning to Milanello.
